Musical Theater Composition: Songwriting Inspired by Alice in Neverland
Presented by the Alliance Theatre in partnership with the Johnny Mercer Foundation, this 2-hour workshop is designed to demystify the Songwriting Process as an accessible tool for interactive learning -- both in the theater classroom and across content areas. Working as small ensembles, participants will explore an approachable 5-step process for creating original music inspired by the Alliance Theatre''s upcoming production of Alice in Neverland. Throughout this experience, participants will consider the go-to "building blocks" of great musicals (e.g. Opening, I Want, Conditional Love songs) to sequence their work as well as integrate creative movement to elevate a compelling new story. Musical interest and experience is welcome, but is not necessary! All participants will discover new ideas for integrating Musical Theater Composition into their instructional practice. **Please note this session runs until 3:15pm**
