Know Before You Go

We're thrilled to have you joining us for the Theatre Education Conference held in collaboration with California Educational Theatre Association. To help you prepare, here's the information you need to know before you go.

Hotel & Transportation


Theatre Education Conference will be held at Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites which is located at 404 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, CA 90071. Please Note: There is construction on S. Figueroa St. Please use the hotel entrance on Flower St.

Hotel parking is $15/hour, daily max of $49. Valet only.

Attendees are responsible for their own transportation between their chosen airport and our host hotel. You may book shuttle services through, but you may also explore car rental or ride share/taxi options as well. More details can be found on the Transportation page.

Due to construction at LAX, additional steps are required to get to the ride share/taxi pick up area. You'll travel through the baggage claim area on the ground floor and go outside to the green LAX-it sign (on pillars). You'll then take an airport shuttle to the pick-up area. This area has pop-up tents that provide coverage from sun and rain. More info is available on the LAX website.


Conference Check-In

Check in will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT on Thursday, September 29 in the California Foyer. Please stop by to pick up your attendee badge and any other registration materials.


Health Guidelines


All attendees are required to be up to date with their vaccinations per the definition on the CDC's website as of August 1, 2022. Attendees are required to submit their proof of vaccination here by September 9, 2022.

If you have submitted proof of vaccination for a previous event, you will still need to submit your proof of vaccination for this event. EdTA can only make exemptions for certain medical conditions. View the exemption policy. 

To ensure compliance with any local policies, we request that all attendees bring their physical proof of vaccination with them as well.


At this time, LA County highly recommends masking in all indoor spaces, and in some places, masks are required. This includes all public transportation settings in LA County including buses, trains, taxis, and ride shares.

Some businesses/venues may require masking as part of their own policy. Attendees should anticipate encountering a masking requirement at some point in LA County. In spaces without a formal masking requirement, attendees are encouraged to mask if they feel more comfortable doing so.


Mobile App

In lieu of a printed program, the mobile app will serve as your guide for all things Conference related. The app will launch about a week before the event. Use the following instructions to download the app:

  1. In your Apple or Android device, open the appropriate app store.
  2. Search “eShow Events” and click to download. 
  3. In the Event Portal find Theatre Education Conference 2022 and click Download. 
  4. When prompted, click Start.
  5. Use the navigation menu to explore the schedule and other event details. 



Add-Ons and Discounted Tickets

EdTA and CETA have partnered with local theatres and organizations to present attendees with a variety of add-on experiences and discounted tickets to productions. View the Ticket Discounts pages for full details.


Exhibitor Passport

Visit all exhibitors for a chance to win fabulous prizes. Have each exhibitor initial their square. Once all squares are initialed, drop off your Exhibitor Passport at the Conference registration desk. Winners will be announced on the Conference App. Prizes will be available for pick-up from exhibitor booths Saturday until 5 p.m.

Packing Recommendations

Attendees are encouraged to dress comfortably while attending Conference. Some workshops may require/encourage movement, so attendees may want to pack clothing specifically for this purpose. We suggest bringing a light sweater or jacket with you during the day as meeting rooms can be cold. We invite attendees to wear cocktail/semi-formal attire for the Closing Celebration to be held on Saturday, October 1 from 8-9:30 p.m. PT.

In late September/early October, the weather in Los Angeles is often warm, dry, and comfortable. Attendees may experience daytime temperatures in the low 80s with evening temps in the 60s and 70s. Be sure to check the forecast closer to the start of the event!
