Research-In-Progress Roundtables

Research Roundtables:
Ideas in Progress, Innovation in Action

Explore the evolving scholarship shaping theatre education. Join fellow educators, artists, and researchers as they share new insights and invite dialogue on emerging questions in the field.

Advancing Theatre Education Through Research & Collaboration

To move the field forward and reflect ongoing innovation in research, practice, and dissemination, TEC hosts research-in-progress roundtables highlighting new work in theatre education, youth theatre, drama, and theatre pedagogy. These sessions showcase the evolving ideas, methods, and questions that define the next generation of arts education scholarship.

Each roundtable is facilitated by an accomplished arts education researcher and features 3-5 presenters sharing their current studies. Rather than formal lectures, these sessions emphasize dialogue—participants engage directly with presenters to exchange ideas, ask questions, and contribute their own perspectives.

Why Attend a Roundtable?

  • Discover new insights. Hear from educators and researchers exploring timely topics like culturally responsive pedagogy, arts-integrated learning, and equitable access to theatre education.
  • Join the conversation. Roundtables are designed for interaction—attendees contribute to shaping ideas, methods, and applications that impact classrooms and communities.
  • Bridge theory and practice. Learn how emerging research connects to the realities of teaching, directing, and advocating for theatre in schools and beyond.
  • Build community. Engage with a network of peers who are redefining what i means to teach and study theatre today.

What to Expect

Roundtable discussions are open to all registered attendees. Each session groups several related projects under a common theme, creating a dynamic environment for feedback, collaboration, and shared learning. Whether you're a seasoned educator, a scholar, or a curious practitioner, you'll leave inspired by the depth and diversity of thought in the field.
